While many professional photographers possess great skill behind the lens or in the digital darkroom, few share John’s unique ability to teach these skills to others. Through his many wonderful books, videos, articles and workshops, he has helped thousands of photographers improve their images with his insight and experience as a working photographer.

"John Shaw's seminar was as expected—thorough and professional. Each topic was presented with the insight of a master photographer and educator. A most valuable experience!"

The 2005 and 2006 seminars were very well-received and well-attended so we are continuing with John's highly-acclaimed seminars in 2007 in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver and Philadelphia. Space is limited, so we strongly recommend early registration.

John’s teaching style is clear, concise and highly informative. When the weekend is over, attendees will have a solid understanding of many basic and advanced principles related to nature photography and the digital darkroom. Throughout the seminar there will be plenty of time for John to answer questions.

Each two-part seminar will take place over a weekend with one full day devoted to nature photography and the second day covering the digital darkroom. The two seminar days can be purchased as a package or separately by day.

"John Shaw has the unique ability to educate advanced photographers, stimulate intermediates, and excite beginners. His mastery of Photoshop and the digital darkroom makes me eager to return for a repeat performance!"
—Robert Penny, Dallas 2005 Seminar

From the moment you arrive on Saturday morning until the time you leave Sunday afternoon, you’ll be learning tips, techniques and tricks that will move your photography into overdrive!

Enrollment is limited—reserve your space today! Registration at the door is limited to available seats.

Day 1—Nature Photography
The entire day is devoted to capturing the best nature images possible on film or digital camera. John draws upon his decades of experience as a photographer, teacher and author to offer concrete, easy-to-understand methods for improved nature photography. Through slide-illustrated lectures John will share numerous proven techniques—from basic to advanced—that you can put to use the next time you pick up your camera to shoot. Among the areas covered are exposure/metering, pre-visualizing images and composing better shots, lens selection for a variety of situations, close-up and macro nature photography, using flash and fill-flash, creating dramatic, high-impact landscape photographs, tips on photographing wildlife and much more.

Day 2—The Digital Darkroom
The digital darkroom—everything from scanners and computers to printers—is an extremely powerful tool that is now affordable to most photographers. Since its infancy, John has embraced and immersed himself in the latest technology. On our second day he will share much of what he has learned and mastered in the digital realm. He’ll review some of the latest and most useful hardware and software available to help you get the most out of your images once you have created them in-camera. You’ll learn how to set up your digital camera for best results as well as the many features of Adobe Photoshop® including color management, histograms, levels, curves, adjustment layers, dodging/burning and color cast correction. Additionally, John will teach you how to get optimal results when printing your images through proper printer setup and selection of paper profiles.
